An Uzbek man has been arrested as a suspect in the murder of a Russian fire and discharge defense commander in the Russian capital Moscow, foreign media reported.
Russia's Federal Security Service said it had captured and detained an Uzbek man in his 20s on charges of detonating a handmade explosive device near a residential building on Moscow's Ryazanskiy Boulevard the day before, killing Lieutenant General Igor Kirilov.
The Federal Security Service explained that the Uzbek had been captured by Ukrainian special authorities and that the powerful hand-made explosive devices had been mounted on electric scooters parked near the entrance to the building where Kirilov lives.
The arrested man set up a Wi-Fi video camera to monitor Kirilov's residence and sent photos collected through it to Ukrainian special authorities, the Russian Federal Security Service said.
It also added that it had been promised US$100,000 by Ukraine and a move to one of the EU countries in return for the killing of Kirilov.
Russian authorities stressed that "a detained man could face up to life in prison, and we will also find and punish Ukrainian special authorities involved in terrorist attack organizations."
