Six people were killed when Ukraine launched a missile attack on the town of Kursk province near the Russian border on the 20th local time, Russian officials said.
Kursk interim governor Aleksandr Hinsitein said on Telegram that six people were killed and 10 injured in a missile strike in the Lilsk region.
He added that the dead and injured included one child each, and the degree of injury was minor.
Interim Governor Hinsitane warned those responsible for the attack would be punished, and the Russian Federal Investigation Commission said it had launched an investigation into the alleged terrorism.
