Qatar's news channel Al Jazeera reported today that while illegal online attractions are prevalent in Korea, a major cosmetic surgery country, there are also a series of cases of side effects.

Al Jazeera pointed out that there were 114,000 plastic surgeries performed by foreigners visiting Korea last year, but their health is threatened by language barriers, false information, and fraudulent sales.

Foreigners often get information from anonymous chat rooms, communities, and bulletin boards because of their language, and it is impossible to identify advertisements disguised as unverified information or reviews here.

Al Jazeera reported that unqualified illegal brokers were especially rampant, and that several anonymous counselors had approached within minutes as reporters posted as if they were customers, but they were all unqualified.

He also criticized that such behavior is illegal under Korean law, saying that there are widespread cases in which positive reviews are required instead of discounting or exempting surgery costs.

In addition, it is difficult for patients to leave bad reviews on hospitals because they are punished for defamation even if they tell the truth in Korea, and therefore, many plastic surgery clinics boast "accident-free" careers, but they cannot believe it.
