U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has expressed his desire to prevent the exit of the Chinese video sharing platform TikTok from the U.S.
Trump said at an annual event hosted by conservative organization Turning Point in Phoenix, Arizona, on the 22nd local time, "I think we need to think again about getting out of TikTok because we entered TikTok during the campaign and gained huge popularity with billions of views."
Trump added, "I brought the chart from TikTok and it was at a record level, it was so beautiful to see, and I thought I should have it for a while."
In other words, Trump strongly expressed his opposition to TikTok's removal in front of Republican supporters.
Earlier in April, the U.S. Senate of Congress passed a so-called "TikTok Ban Act" calling for TikTok's sale to ByteDance, TikTok's Chinese parent company, citing national security concerns.
