As the number of elderly jobs increases, about one in three elderly people aged 65 or older are employed.
According to the 2023 life-stage administrative statistics released by the National Statistical Office, 3,122,000 elderly people were registered as of October last year.
Compared to a year ago, the number of elderly jobs increased by 255,000 and the proportion of employed also increased from 31.7% to 32.9%.
As the number of employed people increased faster than the entire elderly population, the proportion of employed people increased by one in three.
In particular, the proportion of non-wage workers, including self-employed people, was the highest at 26.3% in their late 60s.
