Christmas to celebrate the birth of Jesus,
Thousands of people gathered at St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican,
.
Pope Francis appealed for "peace" in his Christmas message, referring to conflicts and suffering around the world.
Citing the war in Ukraine and the war in Gaza, he stressed the need to open the door to dialogue and peace.
[Pope Francis] I think of Palestine and Israel, especially Gaza, where the humanitarian situation is extremely serious. I hope there will be a ceasefire and the hostages will be released.]
Despite the desperate prayers for peace, the Palestinians, who celebrated Christmas, were constantly shouting instead of Carroll.
Dozens of people, including children, were killed and injured in Israeli military attacks.
Israel, which released a video blasting several digs in southern Gaza, has made it clear that it will control Gaza even after the war ends.
[Israel Katz / Israel Defense Minister: Two goals of the war, we will act to achieve the goal of returning all kidnapped people home and defeating Hamas.]
The ceasefire agreement on the Gaza War, which was expected to be concluded within the year, is also being delayed again.
This is because some provisions, such as the provision of a list of surviving hostages and the presence of Israeli troops in Gaza, have failed to narrow last-minute disagreements.
Hamas criticized Israel for setting new conditions, and Israel blamed each other for trying to defeat the agreement.
