Gyeonggi-do Province announced that it has finally approved the "2033 Gapyeong-gun Urban Regeneration Strategy Plan."
Gapyeong County presented the vision of "Gapyeong, a healing echo culture and leisure city where living and workplace, culture and residents harmonize," and designated Yeoul Market in Cheongpyeong-myeon and Jatgoeul Market in Gapyeong-eup as active areas.
Yeoul Market will spend 23.5 billion won and Zatgoeul Market 9.7 billion won, respectively, to carry out projects such as remodeling old houses, maintaining village roads, creating festival streets, and creating artist houses.
Gapyeong-gun also included measures to establish governance such as the Urban Regeneration Promotion Team, the Urban Regeneration Support Center, and the Residents and Merchants Council, as well as ways to secure public and own funds in the strategic plan.
The Urban Regeneration Strategy Plan contains strategies such as the designation of urban regeneration revitalization areas to revitalize the original downtown areas suffering from aging buildings and sluggish commercial districts, and is established by cities and counties and approved by Gyeonggi Province.
