One out of 20 Koreans is a cancer patient.

According to the 2022 national cancer registration statistics released by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Central Cancer Registry today (26th), the number of new cancer cases in 2022 was 282,000 and the number of cancer patients was 2.588,000.

Compared to a year ago, the number of male cancer patients increased by 1,200 and the number of women decreased by 1300.

Considering that they survive to life expectancy, which is 79.9 years old for men and 85.6 years old for women, the probability of cancer is 37.7% for men and 34.8% for women.

As of 2022, thyroid cancer was the most common cancer in Korea, with lung cancer among men and breast cancer among women ranking first.
