Acting President Han Deok-soo said he will extend the exemption of the electronic travel permit system and actively consider a visa-free pilot project for Chinese group tourists to recover the tourism market.
At the 9th National Tourism Strategy Meeting held at the National Museum of Korea in Seoul today (26th), Han said it is urgent to inform the international community that Korean tourism is safe.
In the tourism sector, he added that next year's budget will be executed early in the first half of the year, emergency support measures such as financial support and special loans will be provided for the industry, and travellers will be provided with measures to reduce the burden such as accommodation coupons.
To the same effect, he promised to revise the law by the first half of the year to institutionalize urban dwellings for Koreans, and said he would actively create airports, cruises, and tourism networks.
