The Incheon Metropolitan Government has decided to operate "cashless city buses" in eight autonomous districts in the city, excluding Ganghwa and Ongjin-gun, from the 1st of next month.
The city buses that remove cash bill boxes are 1,962 on 194 routes where the city is applying the semi-public system.
For passengers who do not have a transportation card, you can purchase a transportation card on the bus or transfer the fare to your account through a payment guide.
Since 2009, the Incheon Metropolitan Government has implemented a semi-public system that supports the deficit compared to the cost of transporting city buses with the city's budget.
The Incheon Metropolitan Government has piloted cashless city buses three times since 2022, and the cash ride rate has fallen from 1.68% in January 2022 to 0.086% in October this year.
