Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has told U.S. President-elect Donald Trump that the U.S. must move first to improve relations.

According to Tas news agency, Lavrov said he was receiving signals from Trump that he was interested in resuming dialogue, adding, "If the signals from the new U.S. administration trying to restore dialogue are serious, of course we will answer."

However, he stressed that the U.S. must act first because it was the U.S. that cut off dialogue after the war in Ukraine.Secretary

Labrov also said he is ready to discuss Ukraine with the second Trump administration, adding that he hopes the Trump administration will figure out the root cause of the conflict.

Trump, who will take office on January 20 next year, has repeatedly said he intends to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying he will quickly end the war in Ukraine.

On the Ukraine peace negotiations, Lavrov said "a ceasefire is a way to go nowhere" and "legal final agreements are needed to ensure all conditions that will guarantee the security of the Russian Federation and the legitimate security interests of its neighbors."

It also claimed that France has secretly proposed several times to hold related talks while excluding Ukraine.

He also pointed out that this attitude breaks the Western principle of "not talking about Ukraine without Ukraine."
