Ministry of Education "Confusion in the School Field...Suggestion for reconsideration"
[Anchor]
AI digital textbooks, which had been promoted with the goal of introducing a new semester next year, have been recognized only as educational materials, not textbooks.
The Ministry of Education said it would propose a request for reconsideration, saying confusion is expected at the school site.

I declare that out of 276 present, 178 in favor, 93 against, and 5 abstentions, the alternative to the revised bill of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act has been approved."
AI digital textbooks lost their status as textbooks when the bill was passed at the plenary session of the National Assembly.
It was used only as educational materials that were chosen at the discretion of the principal.
AI digital textbooks have already been approved at the end of last month, but there is a retroactive clause in the passed bill, so all of them cannot be used as textbooks.
The reason for the bill's passage is that the preparation period is too short to be introduced immediately into the new semester and AI education cannot be tested for young students.
The Ministry of Education said it will ask Acting President Han Deok-soo to veto the school, fearing confusion at the school site.
[Lee Joo-ho / Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education: AI digital textbooks can bridge educational gaps between regions and schools and provide equal educational opportunities for students when used as textbooks, so when the amendment is transferred to the government, we plan to propose a request for reconsideration as the minister in charge of law enforcement.]
If the veto is exercised and the bill returns to the National Assembly, it is likely to be rejected this time because it needs more than 200 people in favor.
In that case, the introduction of AI digital textbooks will be promoted again next year as scheduled.
The Ministry of Education said it will make a request for reconsideration within 15 days and will resolve it as soon as possible so that there will be no confusion in the new semester.
However, he explained that as there are many demands for adjusting the speed of introduction, the plan to put a one-year grace period proposed to the National Assembly earlier will continue.
