Foreign media reports say companies named as the makers of Russia's latest hypersonic intermediate-range ballistic missile Oresynik are using advanced equipment from the Western bloc.

The U.K. daily Financial Times reported the finding came after Ukrainian authorities tracked job postings from the Moscow Thermal Technology Laboratory (MITT) and Sozvezdye under the Russian Federal Space Corporation, which have been named Oresynik developers.

Both have been found to have recruited technicians familiar with metal processing systems made by German and Japanese companies.

The Moscow Institute of Thermal Technology said in a notice posted this year that it sticks to the Heidenhine system with Japanese firms Huanak and German firms Siemens, while Sozwezdiye also mentioned the three companies in the notice.

These companies make computer numerical control, CNC machine control systems, which are important technologies for Oresynik manufacturing.

Although the inflow of CNC-related products to Russia has slowed due to international sanctions, the Financial Times analyzed documents from Russian authorities and found that 3 million dollars worth of related products, including Heidenhine parts, have entered Russia this year alone.

One of them is a new control device-related product registered as produced by Heidenhain last year, which was transported to the Russian company Baltic Industries via China.

Heidenhain and Baltic Industries did not answer related questions, and Siemens said it would investigate any signs of detour while complying with sanctions.

Huanak said it has tightened vigilance within export control procedures to prevent technology or equipment being diverted to Russian companies.
