While heavy snow of around 20cm fell throughout Jeollabuk-do, Honam and Jeju mountains are expected to receive up to 10cm of snow by this afternoon.
Overnight, snow accumulated about 20cm in various parts of Jeollabuk-do, including 24.4cm in Bokheung-myeon, Sunchang, Jeollabuk-do, 20.6cm in Jeongeup, and 17.6cm in Buan, 11cm in Damyang, Jeollanam-do, and 10.7cm in Gokseong.
The Korea Meteorological Administration said that the cloud belt over the West Sea flowed in overnight, causing a lot of snow in Honam, and that as clouds continue to come in, strong and heavy snow of 1 to 3 centimeters per hour is expected to be concentrated in the region until daytime.
Although some heavy snow warnings have been lifted, heavy snow warnings are still in effect in Buan, Jeongeup, and Sunchang in Jeollabuk-do, and heavy snow warnings are in effect in Gochang, Gunsan, Gwangju, Damyang and Jangseong in Jeollanam-do, and mountainous areas in Jeju.
The Korea Meteorological Administration said strong snow is expected to continue until the morning, with a lot of snow already falling, and urged special attention to prevent damage to facilities such as vinyl greenhouses and outdoor structures.
