2024.12.30 PM 11:29
Pope Francis expressed his sincere condolences over the death of former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, the Vatican said.

"The pope recalled Carter's commitment to ethnic reconciliation and peace, the protection of human rights, and the promotion of the welfare of the poor and in need," the Vatican said in a statement.

The pope then prayed for Carter's rest and earnestly for comfort to all who mourn his death, he added.

Earlier, since Carter passed away on the 29th local time, leaders from Britain, Germany, France, China, and Brazil have expressed their condolences to the deceased for his contribution to promoting world peace and human welfare.
