A parliamentary investigation will be conducted for the next 45 days to investigate allegations of civil war against Yoon Suk Yeol's president at the time of the emergency martial law.

Questions on pending issues for the presidential office at the level of the National Assembly Standing Committee were also decided by the opposition party.

A special committee on the investigation of the Yoon Suk Yeol government's suspected civil war, which will be active until February 13, has been launched in earnest with the resolution of the plenary session of the plan.

Ahn Kyu-baek of the Democratic Party was appointed as the chairman, while Kim Sung-won of the People's Power and Han Byung-do of the Democratic Party were appointed as the secretaries of the ruling and opposition parties, respectively.

The National Assembly Special Committee will go through institutional reports, field investigations, and hearings, and will examine various suspicions surrounding martial law, including the process of emergency martial law, legality, and the operation of an arrest team for major politicians.

The target organizations included all martial law-related ministries and agencies such as the President's Office and the Cabinet Office, as well as military organizations, the National Police Agency and the Supreme Prosecutors' Office.

Although the ruling and opposition parties were together, they also fought over whether to name the special investigation committee "civil war" or "suspected civil war."

At the first meeting, the People's Power called for a revision, saying that various expressions and scope of investigation in the National Articles Plan were too determined to be a "civil war."

On the other hand, the Democratic Party of Korea countered that more suspicions, such as the operation of inducing the north wind for martial law and the possibility of a second martial law, should be dealt with by the special committee.

In the midst of this, the National Assembly Steering Committee decided on the 8th of next month to hold a question on the current emergency martial law situation against the presidential office.

For now, the first step in the parliamentary investigation has been taken away, but the ruling and opposition parties are unlikely to clash with each other from adjusting the schedule to selecting suspicions to be identified.

In particular, whether President Yoon Suk Yeol will adopt witnesses is expected to be the biggest issue.
