Ukrainian media The New Voice of Ukraine (NV) reported on the 2nd local time that North Korean troops dispatched to help Russia at war with Ukraine are drinking too much.
According to reports, the General Intelligence Service (HUR) of Ukraine's Ministry of Defense said on Telegram that the morale of North Korean soldiers deployed to the front lines of Kursk in southwestern Russia is declining.
"The morale of the soldiers is falling," HUR said, adding, "They are constantly being promoted by the Russian military with a message that it is 'very important' for the North Korean military to participate in the war against Ukraine."
He emphasized that lower-level Russian commanders are falsely reporting the number of casualties to the upper level.
Earlier on the 23rd of last month, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said more than 3,000 North Korean soldiers were killed or injured in Kursk.
HUR added that there are frequent cases of heavy drinking among North Korean soldiers, including North Korean troops who participated in the fighting on New Year's Eve, December 31 last year.
Meanwhile, HUR claimed that new North Korean troops were recently deployed to the front lines of Kursk.
HUR said new North Korean troops moved near the Kursk military base on March 31 and May 1.
Meanwhile, there have been reports that a senior North Korean military officer has been sent to Kursk, Russia, to investigate the cause of the huge loss of troops.
According to a report by Ukrainian media "Evocation Info," multiple sources said a high-level officer of the North Korean People's Army visited a Russian military base in the Russian state of Kursk on the 27th of last month.
The visit was aimed at investigating the large-scale thoughts of North Korean soldiers who had recently been deployed in the battle for Kursk, the sources said.
