On New Year's Day, gunfire did not stop in the Palestinian Gaza Strip.
Israel's airstrikes have killed at least 30 people, overshadowing the hearts of those wishing for peace.

On New Year's Day, Israel also bombed many parts of the Palestinian Gaza Strip.
Dozens of people have been killed in attacks from the northern Jabaliya and central Bureiz refugee camps to the southern city of Almawa, which has been designated a humanitarian zone.
The Israeli military claimed to have eliminated Hamas militants.
With cease-fire negotiations in vain again, Israel has threatened an unprecedented scale of attack unless Hamas quickly releases its hostages.

Even without air strikes, Gaza's residents are at risk of survival due to the cold and lack of food.
In the past week, seven children have died from the cold, Gaza's health ministry said.

Gaza's population stood at 2.1 million last year, down 6% from before the war, according to the Palestinian Statistical Office.
