Police said they are conducting a total of 86 investigations into malicious posts maliciously slandering the victims of the Jeju Airliner disaster.
The National Police Agency's National Investigation Headquarters explained that out of a total of 86 cases, six search and seizure warrants were executed to identify the publisher of the slander, and 44 cases were awaiting the issuance of search and seizure warrants.
In addition, he said he is also consulting with the prosecution and the Internet community operator to secure investigation data on the remaining 37 cases.
It also added that it is investigating YouTube channels that posted false videos of firefighters dying during rescue operations, and publishers who posted messages on the medical community criticizing bereaved families preparing for a national medical exam in relief tents.
Police said they are reviewing all reports or reports related to malicious texts received at the Muan Airport site reporting center or online, and stressed that they plan to identify and arrest publishers as soon as possible in consultation with bereaved families and others.
