It's been a week since the Jeju Air passenger plane disaster killed so many lives.

On the last day of the national mourning period, mourners continue to visit Muan International Airport.

With the search for belongings and remains nearing the end, the work to determine the cause of the disaster is also accelerating.

I'm connecting the reporter who is on the scene.

Reporter Kim Geunwoo!

Yes, it's at Muan International Airport.

It's already been a week, can you tell us the atmosphere of the incense burner?

[Reporter]
Yes.

It's the last day of the national mourning period, but there are constant steps to remember the victims.

You can still see the harmony behind me and at the entrance of the airport.

According to the policy of the bereaved family, the memorial altar cannot be shown, but many mourners are also coming inside.

The government-designated national mourning period ends at midnight today.

Most of the joint incense burners are also open until today, but some local governments have decided to extend their operations.

The joint memorial altar at the site of the disaster and Muan Sports Park will be open until the 15th of next month in line with the 49th of the victims.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government and Osan City in Gyeonggi Province have also decided to extend the operation period of the memorial altar until the 10th.

The government's position concerned, let's hear it firsthand.

[Park Sang-woo / Minister of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport: Each local government may extend the period for a certain period of time depending on the circumstances and adjust the size appropriately.E, even if the size and location are adjusted, it is supposed to be extended for a considerable period of time to operate a joint altar….]

DNA verification is almost complete, and funeral procedures are underway as the delivery of the body continues.

So far today, more than 70 bodies of 179 victims have been delivered to the bereaved families,

From around 5 p.m. today, it seems that all the victims' bodies can be delivered.

Accordingly, the funeral procedures are expected to be completed by next week.

There's also an investigation to find out the cause of the disaster, right?

[Reporter]
Yes, the accident investigation headquarters lifted the tail wing part that is still in shape yesterday (3rd).

We recovered the remains and belongings below, but it was found that no meaningful remains came out.

More than 140 items of belongings have been found, and the process of delivery of bereaved families will be carried out.

When the tail wing part is repaired, most of the probationary work is expected to be completed.

As a result, the investigation of the cause is expected to accelerate.

In particular, attention is being paid to whether the engine and landing gear raised with the tail wings will reveal the cause of the disaster.

Investigation authorities are also looking into the concrete localizer hill where the aircraft crashed.

Currently, a joint investigation team of 23 people, including Boeing, an aircraft manufacturer, has been formed.

The black box, an important clue, is first investigating the voice recorder to understand the communication between the pilot and the controller.

The flight recorder, which is difficult to extract data due to the loss of the connector, will be sent to the United States soon for investigation.
