World food prices fell in December last year...5.1% sugar ↓

World food prices turned downward in December last year.

According to the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization, the World Food Price Index in December last year was 127.0, down 0.5% from the previous month.

The index was compared with an average price of 100 between 2014 and 2016, rising to 127.6 in November from 120.9 in July last year.

By item group, prices of grains, oils, dairy products, and sugar have all fallen except meat.

In particular, the sugar price index was 120.0, down 5.1% from the previous month.

On the other hand, the meat price index rose 0.4% to 119.0.

The average global food price index last year was 122.0, lower than 124.5 the previous year.
