It is the largest migratory bird in Jeju.
This place is only 8km away from Jeju 2nd Airport.
Within a 13-kilometer radius of Jeju's second airport, there are four such migratory birds.
Migratory bird destinations, which are estimated to live in about 60,000 species, such as endangered species, are in the direction of aircraft operation.
The likelihood of aircraft and bird collisions is 71% below an altitude of 152m close to the airport, and 83% below an altitude of 457m where take-off and landing are attempted.
The institution that reviewed the strategic environmental impact assessment of Jeju's second airport also suggested that the risk of bird collisions is up to five times higher than that of Gimpo Airport and Incheon Airport.
[Kwon Bo-heon / Professor of Aviation Safety Management at Far East University: (Jeju) Airport 2 also had a lot of concerns about bird collisions when preparing. I think we need to prepare a lot in advance and proceed with that.]
The future environmental impact assessment should be discussed with Jeju Island, and effective resolution of the risk of bird collisions is expected to emerge as an issue.
