From the first snow of the new year, heavy snow of about 10cm fell in the central part of the country.
After the snow stops, the strongest cold wave is expected this winter, with temperatures in Seoul dropping to minus 11 degrees Celsius in the middle of this week.

Namsan Mountain is covered with white snow.
Children roll around in the snow and enjoy the winter by falling in love with making snowmen.
Citizens also enjoy the pure white scenery created by the first snow of the New Year and leave their memories in pictures.
[Kang Chaeyeon / Jeju City: I'm here for my first family trip to Seoul after the college entrance exam. I'm excited and happy to see snow here for the first time. I think it's better to be with my family.]
[Baek Jinyu / Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul: I hope this year will be as clean as the snow because of the first snow.]
It was the first snow that caused excitement, but heavy snow warnings were issued in some parts of the central region with heavy snow of around 10cm.
12.9 cm in Insan-myeon, Hwacheon-do, Gangwon-do, 12 cm in Jangdan-myeon, Paju, Gyeonggi-do, 11 cm in Ganghwa, Incheon,
Seoul also had 6.4cm of snow.
[Yoon Ik-sang / Forecaster of the Korea Meteorological Administration: Snow and rain will mostly stop at night, but some central and northern parts of North Gyeongsang Province will continue into Monday morning. Please pay attention to pedestrian safety and traffic safety as there are many places where icy roads and thin ice appear.]
Behind the snow clouds comes a strong chill from the north, with upper temperatures below minus 30 degrees Celsius.
In particular, the hottest cold wave of the winter is expected, with temperatures in Seoul dropping to minus 11 degrees Celsius in the middle of the week.
Along with the extreme cold, another heavy snowfall was predicted in the Honam region, and heavy and humid "wet snow" is expected again this time, raising concerns about damage to facilities.
On the contrary, the east coast needs to be on the lookout for wildfires in dry weather as there is no news of snow rain this week.
