While U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has announced his intention to purchase Greenland, Denmark's autonomous territory in the Arctic Ocean, his eldest son Trump Jr. is scheduled to visit Greenland on the 7th local time, Reuters reported.
Trump Jr. will visit Greenland to film podcast content, Reuters said, citing sources, and will not meet with local officials or politicians.
Greenland's Foreign Minister Mininguak Clist also said he had not been briefed on the purpose of Trump Jr's visit and that he understood it was a private visit.
Earlier in 2019, Trump announced his intention to buy Greenland, which is rich in minerals and oil, but was rejected by Greenland and Danish authorities, and again in December last year.
At the time, Greenland's Prime Minister Mute Egede protested that Greenland was not for sale and would not be for sale in the future.
