An overflow prevention facility that weakens the power of waves has been completed in Songdo, Busan, which is suffering from overflow damage every time a typhoon occurs.

Construction of similar facilities will begin soon off the coast of Marine City in Haeundae, Busan, and attention is being paid to how much typhoon damage can be reduced.

The seawater that engulfed the coastal road of Songdo, Busan, flows like a river.

With the so-called "winter wave phenomenon" in which the waves raised by the typhoon cross the breakwater, the shops on the first floor suffered great damage, including broken windows and broken furniture.

The overflow prevention facility has been completed to prevent such a situation.

More than 2,000 tetrapods weighing more than 10 tons were installed 200 meters long along the coastline.

The height is about 5m above sea level, not at a level that significantly harms the coastal view from nearby India.

The Songdo area in Busan has been constantly required to come up with countermeasures due to the repeated damage caused by the typhoon.

It was completed two years after the construction began, and nearly 10 billion won of tax was invested.

An overflow prevention hole was also built to direct the waves that came to the coast back toward the sea.

[Seong-wook / Director of Urban Development in Seo-gu, Busan: The damage caused by the waves continued, but if the waves are prevented in duplicate, the damage caused by the waves will be greatly reduced....]

Construction of an underwater seawall to prevent damage will begin soon in the coastal waters of Haeundae Marine City in Busan, a frequent Wolpa area.

It plans to invest 69 billion won to install a 500-meter-long breakwater that is revealed to be 3 meters high at sea level.

It is expected to weaken the 5m high wave to about 3m.

While attention is focused on how much damage will be repeated every typhoon, some point out that social costs can be reduced by taking measures to prevent damage from the beginning of coastal development.
