Industry Minister Ahn Deok-geun visited the U.S. to "dismantle U.S. concerns about South Korea's economy."

Trade, Industry and Energy Minister Ahn Deok-geun, who visited the U.S. ahead of the inauguration of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, told key members of the U.S. Congress that he explained that the South Korean government is managing the economy and industry stably even in the face of political turmoil.

At a meeting of correspondents held at the Korean Embassy in the U.S. on the 9th local time, Minister Ahn said that in every meeting of the U.S. schedule, the South Korean government emphasized the stable management of the domestic economy and industry, dispelling the concerns of key U.S. officials.

Minister Ahn explained that he met with Governor Brian Kemp and lawmakers from areas invested by Korean companies in Georgia and Washington, D.C., where Korean companies have intensively entered since the 6th to discuss industrial and economic issues between the two countries.

At the meeting, Ahn said he conveyed his position that the U.S. government's support should continue in the next Trump administration so that South Korean companies that have invested in the U.S. can make investments smoothly.

Ahn also said he met with Senator Todd Young, who co-sponsored the so-called shipbuilding law to strengthen the U.S. shipbuilding industry, to discuss ways to cooperate with the U.S. shipbuilding industry.

In a meeting with Representative Todd Young, Ahn stressed that South Korea is a key partner in the process of rebuilding the U.S. shipbuilding industry and added that he will communicate and cooperate in the process of forming related U.S. bills and policies in the future.
