Large hospitals, including Seoul National University Hospital, have suffered huge losses as medical gaps have been prolonged due to legislative conflicts.

According to the data received by Han Ji-ah, a member of the National Assembly's Health and Welfare Committee, from the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the net loss of Seoul National University Hospital in the first half of this year was 162.79 billion won.

In the case of Bundang Seoul National University Hospital, its profit in the first half of last year was 30.83 billion won, but in the first half of this year, it turned into a deficit of 41.8% billion won, and the increase in net loss exceeded 70 billion won.

In addition, Asan Medical Center, one of the big five hospitals, recorded a deficit of 21.6 billion won, Yonsei Severance Hospital recorded a deficit of 16.3 billion won, and Seoul St. Mary's Hospital recorded a deficit of 13.9 billion won during the same period.

Han stressed that the law needs to be revised so that non-profit corporations can use their own purpose business reserves for facility investment or education until the management situation of hospitals is normalized.
