The presidential office has come up with new measures to respond to the population crisis, thanks to the recent rebound in births.

First of all, in order to reduce the cost burden of infertile couples, they said they would push for a plan to ensure that couples who have failed to re-extract eggs receive local government subsidies.

[Yoo Hye-mi / Senior Presidential Secretary for Low Birth Response: In order to ease the burden on infertile couples, the relevant guidelines will be revised to allow local governments to support medical expenses even if they do not want to do so during infertility procedures.]

It also announced measures to help mothers who suffered lactation and stillbirth in the early stages of pregnancy recover their mental health.

In addition to extending the current five-day vacation period to 10 days, it has also announced that it will establish a new spouse's vacation.

[Yoo Hye-mi / Senior Presidential Secretary for Low Birth Rate Response: We would like to extend the vacation period to 10 days. In addition, we plan to establish a spouse's leave and stillbirth leave system to help spouses recover physically and mentally.]

The president's office also explained that if an excellent work-life balance company or a family-friendly certified small and medium-sized company is selected for a regular tax audit by the National Tax Service, it will apply for a suspension of the investigation from January next year.

President Yoon Suk Yeol's plan to suspend tax investigations announced at the 4th Population Emergency Measures Meeting last month was embodied, and details will be covered at the 5th Population Emergency Measures Meeting on the 30th.

The presidential office also announced that it would announce a "population strategy roadmap" at the same time as the launch of the Population Strategy Planning Department, which is currently being prepared.

He urged the National Assembly to pass a bill on the establishment of the Population Strategy Planning Department within the regular session of the National Assembly, adding that he expects significant progress as there is not much difference between the ruling and opposition parties.

The presidential office has expressed its strong will by coming up with low birth rate measures, and it is expected that follow-up measures to continue the trend of increasing the fertility rate will follow.
