This year's BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia, showed off its strength by doubling its membership for the first time in 15 years.

It has emerged as an alternative force for developing countries against Western industrialized groups, but it also glimpses subtle cracks.

The BRICS, named after five developing countries, held its first expanded meeting this year, doubling its membership.

Six international organizations from 36 countries, including countries that want to join, such as Turkiye and Thailand, participated and showed off their power.

The UN secretary-general, who was absent from the Ukraine-led peace summit, also flew to Kazan, Russia.Putin, who shook off the

isolation, has called for the creation of a new financial institution and grain exchange that will break through Western sanctions.

President Xi Jinping's "multilateralism" as an alternative to unilateralism in the United States has been the theme of this year's summit.

The reconciliation between the leaders of China and India, which had been feuding over the border dispute, after five years, is also considered an achievement of the meeting.

However, India and Brazil are drawing a line on BRICS' anti-Western blocing.

When the United States formalized North Korea's dispatch of troops to Ukraine, even President Xi, who was silent, left a bone to say.
