The 18th typhoon 'Kuraton', which developed into a super-strong intensity and made Korea nervous, was blocked by the cold and dry air in the north and rapidly lost its power and weakened to a tropical depression in Taiwan. The first autumn leaves began on Mt. Seorak this fall as the cold air came down

and the chilly autumn wind blew.

Reporter Kim Min-kyung's report.

'Kuraton' that developed strongly enough to clearly see the eye of the typhoon near the center.
Contrary to the prediction that it would head toward the Korean Peninsula
, it gradually lost its strength as it approached Taiwan, and then weakened inland to a tropical depression.

This is because the cold, dry air from the north prevented the typhoon from coming up.

The western waters of Taiwan are shallow, so typhoons have not developed further, and they have weakened sharply as they collide with high mountain ranges in the east.

A typhoon weakened inland from Taiwan will not directly affect the Korean Peninsula.

However, the Korea Meteorological Administration predicted that between Sunday and Monday, Jeju Island and the south will receive rain due to the rain clouds left by the typhoon.

[Kyung Sang-min / Meteorological Agency forecaster: Sunny weather is expected due to high pressure until Saturday, the 5th, but up to 60mm of rain is expected in Jeju Island and the southern part of the country, where steam from the weakened typhoon collides with cold air.]

The cold air that blocked the typhoon gave Mt. Seorak its first autumn leaves of the year.

[Kim Joong-ho / Director of Daecheong Branch, Seoraksan National Park: Autumn leaves are in between Daecheongbong Peak and Socheongbong Peak in Seoraksan Mountain. The pace of progress seems to be accelerating as temperatures drop from the beginning of October.

This year's autumn leaves came four days later than last year and six days later than usual due to the late heat until the end of last month. As the cold air of

has come down and the autumn clock on the Korean Peninsula is now accelerating, we will soon be able to see autumn mountains changing to red clothes across the country.
