The press distribution preview of the
movie 'Amazon Hwal Myung-soo' was held at Megabox COEX at 2 p.m. today (22nd). At the press conference that followed shortly after the premiere, actors Ryu Seung-ryong, Jin Sun-kyu and Yeom Hye-ran, as well as director Kim Chang-joo, who directed the film, attended and talked about the work.
'Amazon Hwal Myung-soo' is a comic live-action film in which former archery national team Jinbong (Ryu Seung-ryong), who is subject to restructuring at home and at work, meets Korean-Boledor interpreter Bbangsik (Jin Sun-kyu) and three Amazon warriors with God's bow skills.
Director Kim Chang-joo, who got the idea of the work after watching the documentary "The Tears of Amazon," said, "I wanted to express humanity and portray the cultural conflict between indigenous peoples and advanced countries in a pleasant way."
In particular, he said, "I wanted to say that although I live on the other side of the world, the precious values that humans want to pursue are the same. In the process, I tried to release humor and comedy in the right place," he said, stressing that "Amazon Hwal Myung-soo" contained both fun and emotion.
The three actors representing Chungmuro, Ryu Seung-ryong, Jin Seon-gyu, and Yeom Hye-ran, also talked about why they chose their work and the reviews of the shooting.
First, Ryu Seung-ryong said, "I trusted the director from the beginning. I thought hard to give the audience a healthy smile and filmed it in a given environment." Jin Sun-kyu said, "I wanted to meet him again and try it because trust was accumulated through a different work from Ryu Seung-ryong and Yeom Hye-ran. Therefore, the filming process itself was very enjoyable and happy," he added. Yeom Hye-ran also cited the two actors as the biggest reasons for choosing the work. Yeom Hye-ran said, "I wanted to work with Ryu Seung-ryong and Jin Sun-kyu a little more," expressing satisfaction with the tiki-taka with the two. Unlike conventional comedy films,
'Amazon Hwal Myung-soo' combines human drama and sports, and actors also emphasized the differences between the works.
Ryu Seung-ryong explained, "In addition to the freshness given by the subject matter of archery, a sport that we are proud of and friendly, the appearance of the protagonists who are struggling for their families, children, and communities will form a consensus among the audience and be a touching point." Jin Sun-kyu also added, "Those on the other side of the world have a message that confirms that they live with the same heart as us," and said that the movie is more than just a comedy.
