Gyeonggi Province said it will carry out a "shared site RE100" project to promote the construction of renewable energy power plants such as solar power for 600 public idle sites in the province.

Earlier, in consultation with the city and county, the province installed solar power plants in five shared sites, including Siheung Bangsan Bus Public Garage and Pocheon Sports Complex, and 45 are undergoing installation.

In addition, the province has been excavating additional sites since May and has selected 1,600 candidate sites through satellite map analysis of 520,000 shared sites in the province. The

provincial government plans to compress the site to 600 by the end of November after field surveys on these candidate sites, and then consult with cities and counties to promote the RE100 project on public sites.

In particular, the province will establish a special purpose corporation (SPC) specializing in renewable energy led by the public (Gyeonggi-do Co., Ltd.) to carry out the project and realize a renewable energy profit-sharing system that returns some of the profits generated by supplying electricity produced by the power plant to RE100 companies to provincial residents.
