The 'Tran War' over Korea Zinc's management rights has entered overtime.

When Korea Zinc started to buy back its own shares at 830,000 won per share, Youngpoong also returned the tender offer at the same price and condition.

Korea Zinc shares jumped more than 8% as the two sides fought back without conceding.

Reporter Choi Ah-young reports.

Youngpoong and MBK Partners, who are trying to secure management rights of Korea Zinc, threw another game on the last day of the tender offer.

After raising the tender offer price from 660,000 won to 750,000 won on the 26th of last month, it was raised to 830,000 won.

At the same time, we decided to delete the minimum purchase quantity and buy all of the subscriptions even if they did not meet the target.

We countered with the same price and conditions as Chairman Choi Yoon-beom of Korea Zinc.

As Youngpoong and MBK changed their conditions, the tender offer deadline was also increased by 10 more days until the 14th.

On top of that, the two sides are fiercely competing for the right to manage Youngpoong Precision, which holds a 1.85% stake in Korea Zinc, by raising the tender price to 30,000 won.

Korea Zinc shares rose more than 8% and Youngpoong Precision surged 25% on the unyielding equity battle.

As the management dispute intensifies into a "war of justice" that exceeds 5 trillion won, there are also voices inside and outside the market concerned about the "curse of the winner."

[Lee Jung-hwan / Professor of Economics and Finance at Hanyang University] No matter who wins, we have to buy stock prices at a high level and solve the financing costs. This side (private equity funds) may also have restrictions on other sales activities as they need to match the appropriate return on investment in liquidating their shares....]

Earlier, the Financial Supervisory Service cautioned investors, saying a drop in stock prices could result in investment losses after surging in the short term.
