"Last year, 4.1 billion illegal spam messages...3.4x in 5 years ↑"

An analysis showed that 4.1 billion illegal spam mobile phone text messages were received by the Korean people last year.

Shin Sung-beom, a member of the National Assembly's Science, Technology, Information, Broadcasting and Communications Committee, received data from the Korea Communications Commission, the Korea Internet & Security Agency, and the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, and found that last year's spam message volume totaled 4.12 billion.

This is an increase of about 3.4 times in five years from 1.21 billion cases in 2019.

Representative Shin pointed out that measures should be taken in this regard, saying that text sending companies are avoiding the law by sending tens of millions of illegal spam texts at a time and closing down the business.
