U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell will visit South Korea the day after tomorrow (16th) to discuss concerns over North Korea's provocations, the U.S. State Department said.

The State Department said in a news release that Campbell will discuss global challenges with senior South Korean officials in Seoul, including bilateral cooperation to strengthen regional security and concerns surrounding North Korea's provocations.

He also said that the Korea-U.S.-Japan trilateral foreign ministers' meeting, which will take place on the occasion of Deputy Secretary Campbell's visit, will focus on the importance of complying with international law in the South China Sea as well as threats from North Korea.

As a result, Deputy Secretary Campbell is expected to discuss North Korea's possible high-intensity provocations before and after the U.S. presidential election next month, along with the recent escalation of inter-Korean tensions over North Korea's alleged infiltration of South Korean drones into Pyongyang.
