Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon said he ordered the establishment of a dangerous zone in the border area of the province to prevent North Korean leaflets from being sprayed by North Korean defectors' groups.

Governor Kim said at a parliamentary audit of the National Assembly that he ordered the establishment of dangerous zones in Yeoncheon, Pocheon, Paju, Gimpo and Goyang as he thought it would meet the requirements for setting up dangerous zones.

If it is set up as a dangerous zone, the province can issue an executive order prohibiting the entry and exit of North Korean leaflets, and the special judicial police can form a special investigation team to arrest violators of the executive order and file criminal charges.

As a result, the Gyeonggi-do Provincial Special Envoy is conducting patrol activities in five cities and counties, including Goyang, Paju, Gimpo, Pocheon, and Yeoncheon, where leaflets are scheduled to be sprayed against North Korea.
