Bribes for "Merchant of Merit"...Sent to the Ministry of Public Administration and Security

The Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency's anti-corruption crime investigation team sent A, an official of the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, without detention on bribery charges.

Mr. A is accused of taking millions of won in bribes from Mr. B, the head of the Agricultural Cooperative Federation in Gwangju, who received the National Medal of Merit for National Disaster Management in June 2022.

The police believe that Mr. A used his influence to help the union leader B receive a medal in exchange for money and valuables.

The police also sent without detention the head of the union B, who is accused of bribing A and taking money in exchange for hiring.
