Stroke Patients in Korea Have Higher Diabetes and Smoking Rates Than Seo-gu

It was found that stroke patients in Korea had higher rates of diabetes and smoking than Western patients.

According to the 2021 stroke treatment status released by the National Institute of Health of the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 35% of stroke patients in Korea suffered from diabetes, higher than Sweden, the United Kingdom, and Japan, which showed 20%.

Among stroke patients in Korea, 21% of them smoked, higher than 19% in the United States and 13% in Sweden.

In addition, men recorded 59.8% of patients with acute stroke, significantly higher than women with 40.2%.
