Opposition parties pass plenary session of 'Amendment to the Rules of the Permanent Special Prosecutor's Office'

"Excluding 2 ruling party-recommended shares for investigation of president and family"

The ruling party's "Democratic Party intends to investigate by choosing as it likes"

Opposition party's "excessive veto rights..."The ruling party is engrossed in protecting First Lady Kim."

At the plenary session of the National Assembly a little while ago, a revision to the rules related to the recommendation of candidates for the permanent special prosecution was passed.

The special prosecution of the investigation involving the president or his family excludes the right to recommend the ruling party, which is strongly opposed by the people.

I'm connecting with the National Assembly reporter, reporter Lim Sung-jae!

Please tell us more about the battle between the ruling and opposition parties over the revision of the permanent special prosecutor rule!

Yes, at the plenary session of the National Assembly a while ago, the revision of the rules of the permanent special prosecution led by opposition parties such as the Democratic Party of Korea was enforced.

The core of the revision is to exclude two members of the ruling party from the composition of the standing special prosecution candidate recommendation committee, which consists of seven members for the president's or his family's investigation.

Joo Jin-woo, a member of the People's Power Party who was a counter-debate before the vote, criticized the Democratic Party, saying it would select a permanent special prosecutor to investigate.

On the other hand, Rep. Kim Yong-min of the Democratic Party of Korea, emphasized the president's repeated rejection of the independent counsel law, refuting that the ruling party is only focused on subjugating to power and defending Kim.

In the end, the rule amendment that was voted on was approved by the opposition party.

As the revision of the permanent special prosecution rules is not a matter that requires a separate revision of the law, it is not subject to the right to request a presidential reconsideration.

In other words, the amendments processed will take effect immediately.

Starting with the revision of the rules of the permanent special prosecution, the Democratic Party plans to increase the level of pressure on Kim's suspicion by re-voting the special prosecution on the 10th of next month.

The plan is to report and vote on the impeachment of three prosecutors, including Lee Chang-soo, head of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, and to re-vote the Kim Special Prosecutor's Act in order.

At the plenary session, the opposition-led handling of the agenda continued amid a backlash from the people.

First, the Democratic Party of Korea processed the revision of the National Assembly Act so that next year's government budget bill will not be automatically added to the plenary session even after the legal deadline for the National Assembly's budget review.

It also rejected a motion to arrest Rep. Shin Myung-dae of the Democratic Party of Korea, whose arrest warrant was sought on charges of manipulating public opinion and receiving bribes in the general election.

In the midst of this, there were media reports that representative Han Dong-hoon expressed his intention to consider dealing with the Special Counsel Act on Mrs. Kim, so please tell us about the representative's reaction to this.

[Reporter]
The controversial report is that representative Han Dong-hoon told his aides that he could consider a "major decision" in the Kim Special Counsel Act, which is pushed by the opposition party.

Amid the factional conflict over the party's bulletin board controversy, close lawmakers are likely to vote in favor of the special prosecution's re-vote next month.

First of all, a representative flatly said he never said it as if it were in the report.Let's listen to

[Han Dong-hoon / Representative of People's Power: (There was a report that said we should answer the special prosecution law, is it correct?) I said that? (Yes.) I didn't say that.]

Rep. Chin also told YTN on the phone that Han was upset by a series of attacks within the party, but he did not ask to use it as a kind of "card."

In particular, he added that linking the issue of the party's bulletin board with the independent counsel law would make representative Han shameful.

Other close acquaintances also dismissed it as nonsense, saying it seemed like a knight who went too far.

However, the internal feud continues as pro-Yoon-gye urged the author of the controversy over the party's bulletin board to reveal whether the representative's family is Han's.

Kwon Sung-dong, a member of the People's Power, pointed out at a seminar this morning that it is not a party member nor Yongsan, but a representative Han Dong-hoon who is responsible for solving the recent issue of the party bulletin board.

However, floor leader Choo Kyung-ho told reporters after the general meeting of lawmakers that he has gathered opinions within the party to refrain from making public remarks for the time being and watch the situation calmly as the police investigation is underway.

So far, I'm YTN Lim Sungjae in the National Assembly.
