Prosecutors indict Kim Se-hwan, former secretary-general of the NEC, for 'preferential hiring of his son'

Kim Se-hwan, former secretary-general of the National Election Commission, has been put on trial on charges of preferential hiring of his son.

The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office indicted former Secretary-General Kim without detention today (3rd) on charges of abusing his authority and obstructing the exercise of his rights.

Former Secretary-General Kim is accused of exerting undue influence by illegally hiring his son to the Incheon Ganghwa-gun NEC and illegally transferring him to the Incheon Metropolitan City NEC a year later.

Prosecutors say they will do their best to maintain the prosecution, saying that the highest-ranking official of the NEC privatized the constitutional agency's personnel system for the succession of civil servants and the management of his son's career.
