Lee Jae-myung, chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized President Yoon Suk Yeol's declaration of emergency martial law as illegal and unconstitutional that does not meet the practical requirements for declaring emergency martial law set by the Constitution and martial law.

Representative Lee told reporters after the resolution calling for the lifting of the emergency martial law was approved at the plenary session of the National Assembly, saying that the emergency martial law was originally invalid and confirmed again by the National Assembly's resolution.

According to the martial law law, the declaration of emergency martial law is required through a resolution of the State Council, but it has not been approved by the State Council, pointing out that the declaration of martial law itself is invalid because it does not meet substantive and procedural requirements.

The military and police said that from now on, the presidential order following the declaration of illegal martial law is a clear illegal order, and it is illegal to follow it.

He emphasized that the crisis will soon be an opportunity, not a worse situation due to the declaration of illegal unconstitutional martial law, but a decisive opportunity to break the vicious cycle and return to normal society.
