Netanyahu tells U.S. Security Adviser Sullivan "needs military operation in Syria"

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, who visited his country on the 12th local time, to emphasize the need for military operations in Syria.

Israel's prime minister's office says Netanyahu told Sullivan that Israel would do everything necessary to defend its security from any threats arising in Syria.

Netanyahu said there was a need to support minorities in Syria and prevent terrorist activities against Israel within Syrian territory.

He also explained that the deployment of its troops in the buffer zone in Syria is only a temporary measure until the 1974 Israel-Syria ceasefire agreement can be properly implemented.

Shortly after Syrian rebels declared victory in the civil war on the 8th, Israeli forces entered the northern Golan Heights and the buffer zone inside Syrian territory.

It is also continuing airstrikes on the grounds that it removes strategic assets such as chemical weapons, long-range missiles, and rockets from Syrian government forces remaining in the capital Damascus.
