Former lawmaker Park Wan-joo, who was put on trial for forcibly molesting his aide, was sentenced to prison in the first trial.
The Seoul Southern District Court sentenced former lawmaker Park to one year in prison, saying he was found guilty of forced harassment and defamation, and ordered him to complete a 40-hour sexual violence treatment program.
In addition, former lawmaker Park was arrested in court, saying there was a fear of running away.
He was acquitted of charges of inflicting post-traumatic stress disorder on the victim due to forced harassment and attempted dismissal.
The court explained the reason for the sentencing, saying that the nature of the crime was very poor by forcibly molesting the victim and telling the story of damage compensation to the surroundings.
Former lawmaker Park said he would appeal immediately after the sentence.
In December 2021, Park was put on trial for forcibly harassing the victim, who was his aide at the time, at a singing bar in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul.
