With a lot of snow falling until the morning of yesterday (21st), the season's "companion," a cold wave warning was issued in the central part of the country as the cold air went south from the afternoon.

Most of the snow has stopped, but this morning (22nd) the central part is expected to have a severe cold of around minus 10 degrees Celsius.

Reporter Kim Min-kyung's report.

On the day of winter, the white snow on Palbongsan Mountain conveys the atmosphere of midwinter.

The dog steps on the snow that sits down along the mountain path and walks on the snow.

Snow clouds made in the West Sea came inland from the northwest wind,
Snow piled up 14.4cm in Hongcheon, Gangwon-do, 13.6cm in Daehwa-myeon, Pyeongchang, 10.2cm in Idong-myeon, Pocheon, and 2.7cm in Seoul.

[Yang Kook-jin / Dongnae-myeon, Chuncheon-si, Gangwon-do: It snowed a lot in the morning, so now the snow has stopped and the weather has gotten warmer, so I came to exercise. It's going to get cold again, so you have to be careful because it's slippery.]

Most of the snow stopped in the afternoon, but cold air came down from the northwest, signaling a bitter cold this time.

[Hwang Ji-young / Forecaster of the Korea Meteorological Administration: The temperature will drop sharply to around minus 10 degrees Celsius on the morning of the 22nd and 23rd, mainly inland, as the cold air of minus 35 degrees Celsius goes south at an altitude of about 5 kilometers above the sky....]

Cold wave warnings were issued in Gangwon-do, northeastern Gyeonggi-do, and northern Chungcheongbuk-do,
In Seoul, where the cold wave warning has not been issued
, the morning temperature is expected to drop by 7 degrees to minus 6 degrees Celsius in one day, and the wind chill is expected to drop to minus 12 degrees Celsius.

In particular, strong winds across the country can make the cold feel stronger because the wind is lower than the temperature.

The smog from China, which clouded the atmosphere in the Midwest yesterday, also escaped along the northwest wind, and the air is expected to be clear across the country today.

The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) predicted that the cold will continue until early this week and will ease briefly in the middle of the week, but the cold will return over the weekend.
