Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Strategy and Finance Choi Sang-mok said, "The impeachment of the acting president is no different from the impeachment of the entire cabinet," and asked the acting prime minister Han Deok-soo to reconsider the impeachment.

Deputy Prime Minister Choi held an extraordinary meeting of the Cabinet members at the Government Complex Seoul this morning and said that if the impeachment is approved, the continued threat of impeachment will dampen the administration's capacity and eventually eliminate the reason for the existence of the members.

At the same time, he earnestly appealed to the political circles of the ruling and opposition parties to reconsider the impeachment of acting President Han Deok-soo.

Deputy Prime Minister Choi said that the Korean economy and people's livelihoods, which are on thin ice amid a national emergency, cannot handle the growing political uncertainty of acting as an acting president, and that the stable economic system and external credibility should not be shaken again under the acting system.

We are concerned that the absence of a state control tower in a national emergency of a global trade war will deal a serious blow to our economy's external credibility, security, national economy and continuity of state affairs, as seen by the soaring won/dollar exchange rate.

He also stressed that such confusion should not last even for a moment, and that the Cabinet has been doing its best to ensure that there is no vacuum in state affairs, centering on the acting president.

Deputy Prime Minister Choi said, "We desperately hope that there will be no more political uncertainties that threaten our economy and security, and we once again appeal to the ruling and opposition parties to cooperate so that the government can focus only on the economy and people's livelihoods."
