As consumption decreased and online activities increased due to the recession, leisure time increased, but rather, the cost of leisure decreased.
According to a survey conducted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute, the average monthly leisure time of Koreans this year was 3.7 hours on weekdays and 5.7 hours on holidays.
This is an increase of about 10 minutes in leisure time compared to 3.6 hours on weekdays and 5.5 hours on holidays last year.
However, the average monthly cost of leisure activities this year was 187,000 won, down 14,000 won from last year's 20,000 won.
The researcher explained that the increase in prices is due to a decrease in direct consumption activities such as watching culture and arts, sports, and tourism, and an increase in the proportion of relaxation and hobby and entertainment activities.
