Deputy Prime Minister for Economy and Minister of Strategy and Finance Choi Sang-mok said that even if he takes over as acting president, his role will be limited.
In a meeting with reporters today, Deputy Prime Minister Choi said, "I think the Han Deok-soo system was working well," adding, "Many people say that the acting role of the acting president is very limited."
He also added that if there is any problem within the acting system of Han Deok-soo, it is desirable for the ruling and opposition parties to resolve it.
Earlier this morning, Deputy Prime Minister Choi presided over an extraordinary meeting of the State Council and appealed for reconsideration of the impeachment of acting Prime Minister Han Deok-soo, saying that the economy and people's livelihoods cannot handle the growing political uncertainty of acting as an acting president amid a national emergency.
