With sub-zero cold conditions across the country, Chungcheong and Honam are expected to see a lot of snow of more than 20cm by tomorrow.

Strong snowstorms accompanied by strong winds may occur overnight, which is feared to cause damage.

Reporter Kim Min-kyung's report.

Clouds accompanied by snow bombs are approaching South Chungcheong and Honam regions from the West Sea.

The cold air in the northwest, which has dropped the temperature of the Korean Peninsula by more than 5 degrees in a day, passes through the warm West Sea, and the developed clouds enter the northwest wind.

Until tomorrow, there will be a lot of snow around the western region.

It will come up to 20cm in Jeonbuk and 3 to 10cm in the mountains of Chungnam, Jeonnam, and Jeju.

Heavy snow was predicted during the night when a trough of air pressure passed in the upper atmosphere of the Korean Peninsula, and strong winds are also expected to cause strong snowstorms of up to 3cm per hour.

[Kim Young-joon / Forecaster of the Korea Meteorological Administration: The upper air pressure trough is expected to strengthen the north wind flow from the northwest, thereby strengthening the flow into the country. We expect the strongest peak to occur at night on the 27th and early morning on the 28th.

Heavy 'wet' damage is especially feared on humid coasts.

Preparation is needed, such as clearing snow in advance to prevent facilities such as greenhouses and livestock houses from collapsing.

Inland areas except the west, the cold air that has fallen deep continues to cause freezing cold on weekends.

Tomorrow morning, it will be below minus 7 degrees in Seoul and minus 10 to 15 degrees in the central inland and northern North Gyeongsang Province, but the wind chill will drop further.

[Kim Byung-kwon / Meteorological Agency forecaster: Cold weather will continue until Saturday the 28th due to the cold northwest wind, but warm west winds are expected to blow from Sunday the 29th, with temperatures 1 to 3 degrees higher than usual.]

Snow will stop mostly tomorrow morning, and the cold will gradually ease from day to day, with winter cold similar to previous years expected on Sunday.
