The Ministry of Health and Welfare announced that it issued a "Code-Orange" as soon as it received the situation at 9:12 a.m. regarding the plane accident at Muan International Airport in Jeollanam-do and initiated medical response.
'Code Orange' is an emergency medical posture issued when a disaster or accident causes a large number of casualties.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare explained that they are providing emergency medical care by dispatching a rapid response team and a disaster medical support team (DMAT) from a nearby health center immediately after the accident.
Currently, all three disaster medical support teams in Gwangju and Jeollanam-do have been put into the accident site.
In addition, Park Min-soo, the second vice minister, was dispatched to the scene of the accident for quick response and settlement.
Minister of Health and Welfare Cho Kyu-hong said he will actively cooperate with the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters to do his best to provide emergency medical support to minimize casualties.
