Local risers and azimuth facilities, which are cited as the main cause of the Jeju Air passenger plane disaster, were confirmed to have been improved last year.
It was also revealed that there was no localizer facility outside the runway opposite the point where the accident occurred.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said in a morning briefing that the local riser facility has been temporarily demolished at the other end of the runway at Muan Airport to extend the runway.
He also explained that the localizer facility at the accident site was improved last year because it needed to be replaced or improved.
However, he added that Muan Airport does not apply to restrictions such as "fragile structures" because local riser facilities were installed outside the longitudinal safety zone.
Earlier, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said that according to the related regulations, the end safety zone is at least 90m from the end of the landing zone, but 240m is the recommended standard, but the end safety zone at Muan Airport is 199m, so it is not a violation of the regulations.
